Weirdest sandwich ever....well, so far.

So today, as I was walking around the island, I stopped in a restaurant called Kim's Restaurant for some lunch. The first thing I noticed was that the restaurant doubles as a nightclub after hours with a stage and some flashy lights on one end. Apparently, this is not that uncommon here. It was pretty sparsely decorated but it did have a lot of space so it seemed more reasonable to double as a club than some of the other buildings I've walked past. The menu offered several different types of cuisine - a lot of asian cuisines and some standard american fare like burgers and such. Although I fully intend to delve into the ethnic food options while I'm here (Justin and I have talked about tasting the local delicacy - fruit bat), I'm not quite ready for it yet. My stomach is still a bit queasy from the jet lag and overall tiredness. So I decided to order something that I thought was going to be pretty standard....a club sandwich. This has got to be one of the weirdest club sandwiches I have ever eaten in my life. Rather than the turkey, it had pork on it. And rather than bacon, it had a fried egg. And on each slice of bread (both sides, I think) they had lathered on a sweet mayonnaise concoction.....a very sweet mayonnaise concoction. I was really hungry so I ate it, but afterward I did feel a bit nauseous. It probably would have been good without all that mayonnaise. To top it off, they served it with dorritos and had drizzled another kind of sweet sauce on top of them. Dorritos with a sweet sauce is definitely weirder than any other dorrito combination I have come across. Lee, consider yourself outdone....

  1. Lee, I believe Vanessa has just issued a challenge. Can you outdo Doritos with sweet sauce? Would Pegs let you? Would your physician? Or does your zucchini bread and peanut butter sandwich already win? Let the games begin...

  2. Actually -- except for teh weirdo Doritos -- that sounds pretty yummy! I think you can find weirder food, though. Keep us posted! Maybe you should start a "tag" for "Weird Food" so we can see how it progresses to stranger and stranger fare.
