Arrived Safely

Hello from Palau!!!
I arrived in Koror last night around 9pm after beginning my journey at 6:30am in New Orleans....jet lagged doesn't even begin to cover it. Dr. Dever, my preceptor for the coming month, picked me up at the airport and brought me to the apartment that Justin and I will be renting while we are here. It's pretty much fully furnished except for the kitchen; there are no dishes, cups, pots, pans.....we'll figure something out, though, I'm sure. But it's only $500 a month total, so I can't be too picky.
Today, I think I'm just going to walk around and try to get my bearings a little bit. Dr. Dever gave me a map of the islands and there seems to be one central road that connects several of the islands together. I don't know how much of it I can walk, but there is a bike rental shop not far from my apartment. I have a feeling that I'll be investing in a bike so that I can get to the beaches (and I guess the hospital :) easily. Justin gets here tomorrow and we'll still have a few days before our rotation starts on the 9th to do a lot exploring....and scuba diving! I'm still trying to figure out which company is the better one to use for our certification, but I'm sure that they are all good. I'm leaning toward a company called Sam's Tours, though, because their package includes snorkeling in jellyfish lake. We'll be sure to post pictures of our scuba diving adventure later since Justin has an underwater case for his camera.
Well, time to go exploring....
